What are insight reports?

Individual reports tell you about one student. Insight reports zoom out: pick any group of students, a class, a year group, an intervention group, and Talamo turns their results into a single picture of the whole group, with strategies to match.

Two types of report

When you create an Insight report, you choose one of two types:


  • Teacher: brief and classroom-focused. An overview of how the group is doing, with strategies for the whole class and for small groups.

  • SENCO: the detailed version. Deeper analysis of the group's results, intervention groupings and strategies, and flags for students who may need a closer look.


A good rule of thumb: sharing with a class teacher to shape everyday teaching? Choose Teacher. Planning provision, interventions or next steps? Choose SENCO.

What's inside

Both reports include:


  • A summary of the group: who they are and how they got on overall

  • Where the group is strongest and where it's struggling, across the skill areas covered by the tests you include

  • Recommended strategies matched to the group's needs


The SENCO report adds more depth: score averages and how spread out they are, counts of students flagged by each screener, how much support students across the group are likely to need, suggested intervention groups, and a list of students whose results suggest further investigation.

A few things to know

  • You need at least 5 students in a group.

  • You choose which tests to include: Cognitive & Dyslexia, Maths & Dyscalculia, Executive Function, or any combination. Students who haven't completed a particular test are left out of that test's sections, but included wherever they have data.

  • An Insight report is a snapshot. It captures results as they stand when you create it, and won't change as new results come in. For an up-to-date picture, just create a new report.

  • Results more than 12 months old are marked out of date. They're still included, and the report tells you how many.No challenges identified: the student's skills are within the typical range
