Why hundreds of schools are trying Talamo

BBC News featured Talamo after reporting that hundreds of UK schools are trying a new way to screen for dyslexia. This is a huge milestone for Talamo, making us even more excited about our fast school uptake and what’s coming next.

Our BBC Moment

The BBC piece confirms what teachers have been telling us: schools want a simple, scalable way to spot pupils who may need support earlier. In plain terms, it means classrooms can screen whole groups in one sitting and get clear next steps—no complicated setup required. We’re grateful for the recognition and the momentum it brings across press coverage and educator forums.

"We hope that this gives schools the ability to do the screening because, if it's not accessible, and it's not cost efficient, then it won't happen."

- Jamie Wace, founder & CEO of Talamo

Early Traction Across 300 Schools: EdTech Events Momentum

Over 300 schools have signed up to get started—an energising vote of confidence from SENCOs, heads, and trust leaders. Schools told us the draw is simple: quick rollout, classroom-ready tasks, and practical insights that they can act on the same day.

"I think that's really powerful to help them be able to move forward to secondary school with those strategies in place and understanding how their brains work."

- Catherine Prosser, Assistant head teacher at Mawnan Primary School

We're looking forward to more demos and upcoming EdTech events so staff can try the screener hands-on and swap tips with peers.

Why Talamo Matters For The SEN Revolution: What Changes In School

Early screening helps schools spot learning differences sooner, so support can start before confidence dips. Put simply, universal classroom screening turns identification from a slow referral into a routine part of teaching and learning. We see this as part of the wider SEN revolution—making support more inclusive, more timely, and more transparent for families and staff.

"Dyslexia should never be a barrier to a brilliant education, or to what children can go on to achieve."

- Department for Education
