Talking Dyslexia began with a one-minute introduction. In it, Ellen and I explain why we wanted to make the series: dyslexia is still widely misunderstood, and the conversations that help most are often the longest and most honest ones.
I co-host the podcast with Ellen Broomé, CEO of the British Dyslexia Association. The introduction went out on 2 June 2025, and the first full episode followed on 13 June.
What the series is about
In the show’s own words, each episode explores “what dyslexia really means at school, at work, and in everyday life.”
The guests are educators, specialists, campaigners, broadcasters and entrepreneurs. Many of them are dyslexic, and some speak as parents too. Between them, they cover:
how dyslexia is spotted, and what happens when it’s spotted late
the support that makes a difference at home, at school and at work
confidence, belonging and the emotional side of learning differently
what schools, families and policymakers could do better
Meet the hosts
Ellen Broomé has been CEO of the British Dyslexia Association since October 2024. Before joining the BDA, she spent several years as Managing Director of two Coram Group organisations, CoramBAAF and Coram Family and Childcare.
And me, Jamie Wace. I’m the founder and CEO of Talamo. My own experience of dyslexia showed me how much early identification can change a pupil’s confidence and direction, and it’s why I started the company. Talamo’s screening assessments are now used in over 1,300 UK schools.
