The challenge

The challenge

The challenge

St Peter’s Catholic Primary School first got involved with Talamo in 2023, when deputy headteacher Ruth Hall and SENCo Barbara Tucker met the team to talk about how the school could help with its research.

Every Talamo task is tried with pupils before it is used at scale, so the school would be giving time, rooms and computers to sessions that shaped the assessments.

What they did

What they did

What they did

  1. Hosted research sessions. From October 2023, the school hosted sessions in which groups of around 15 pupils worked through Talamo’s tasks, supervised by the Talamo team.

  2. Tried out new material. In January 2024, a small group of pupils user-tested new tasks while they were still being developed.

  3. Saw the research through. Through spring 2024 the school ran further sessions, shared an opt-out letter with parents, and made sure pupils completed their assessments as the research phase ended in June 2024.

  4. Helped test a new assessment. In January 2026, pupils helped the team user-test early versions of the Executive Function tasks.

The impact

The impact

The impact

  • A part in two assessments. Sessions at St Peter’s contributed to the research behind Talamo’s dyslexia screener and, later, its Executive Function assessment.

  • Smooth, well-organised sessions. The school’s organisation made every session run smoothly.

  • A long-standing partnership. St Peter’s has worked with Talamo since 2023, from the first dyslexia research to the newest assessment.
